SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
There is no denying that SEO can be a very daunting concept when it comes to ensuring your website is Google Friendly. There really is no getting away with doing it now with so many expectations from Google (and other search engines). There are many levels of SEO and we always advise on at least getting the basics put in place.
Lets be honest from the start about SEO. It takes time to get anywhere near the front page of Google. It takes time, it takes commitment and it takes a lot of experimenting to see what does and what doesn’t work.
The great thing about SEO is that it can be measured easily. Using dedicated applications, such as SEMRush, Ahrefs and Screaming Frog, we are able to clearly show you where your website needs to be improved. Not only that, we can even show you insights into your competitors SEO data to see how they may be doing better than you!
SEMRush is quite frankly a magical piece of software. It allows me to look at how your competitors are ranking, what keywords they use, how many Pay Per Click adverts they are running and the sort of traffic they get to the their website. Yes, its like spying, but it’s legal and very helpful in getting your website ranking higher. The higher you rank, the more business you’ll get.
ahrefs is a great tool for tracking how certain keywords rank within the Google search engine. It is actually very similar to SEMRush but I like to run both side by side. Keyword ideas are easy to generate through ahrefs and keeping track of how keywords perform is a key feature. In simple terms, type in a keyword and ahrefs will produce a list of high ranking keywords associated with it!
Screaming Frog is a website ‘crawler’. You can type in any website url and it will produce a range of data that will point me in the right direction! It will, for example, highlight any broken links your website may have, whether or not page titles are in place, if there is duplicate content and much more.
